Erectile Dysfunction Acoustic Wave Therapy

At Contemporary Health Center, we believe in treating the underlying issue with regenerative medicine. Erectile issues aren’t just a sexual problem. A fulfilling sex life can lead to greater satisfaction in social, family and work relationships. The sooner erectile issues are treated, the better the outcome. Disuse progresses the loss of function and deterioration of healthy tissue, disuse atrophy. Proactive treatment makes it easier to correct it and prevent future deterioration.

Acoustic Wave and Erectile Issues

Most men suffering from declining erectile function have vascular issues affecting the vessels that supply blood to the cavernous bodies of the penis, resulting in a decreased ability to develop and maintain an erection.

Vascular problems result is an inadequate blood-flow leading to premature draining of the reduced blood flow from the cavernous bodies – an erection is not achieved or is not maintained.

ED Acoustic Wave Therapy is a highly effective treatment that is restoring more optimal erectile function to many men. Acoustic Wave therapy is being used in the treatment of many other fields including vascular medicine and urology. Cardiologists have proven that Acoustic Wave technology works in stimulating the growth of new blood vessels. The same Acoustic Wave therapy is now being used for a similar effect on the blood vessels in the cavernous bodies of the penis. The Acoustic Wave focused on the area create new blood vessels in penile tissue, enabling men to achieve and maintain firm spontaneous erections.

The Importance of Proactively Treating Erectile Dysfunction

As with any medical condition, the sooner erectile issues are diagnosed and treated, the better the outcome, for the following reasons:

  • Early or proactive treatment makes it easier to identify the problem, correct it, and prevent future deterioration, which is a natural progression of the condition;
  • Disuse of the organ progresses the loss of function and deterioration of healthy tissue, disuse atrophy.

Erectile issues aren’t just a sexual problem. A fulfilling sex life can lead to greater satisfaction in many other aspects of life, including social, family and work relationships and environments.

Is Acoustic Wave right for me?

Men with high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol and heart disease with vascular erectile difficulties can benefit -almost all patients, of any age, even those on anticoagulants. Acoustic Wave works best for men who have mild to moderate ED, which usually means that medications like Viagra work well or at least help. As many as 70% of these men will no longer need medication to attain an erection. For men who are not candidates for Acoustic Wave or if Acoustic Wave does not provide satisfactory improvement, other treatments for ED are available. *Assessment by our trained practitioner is necessary.

How does Acoustic Wave Therapy for ED differ from other treatments or medication?

ED Acoustic Wave Therapy is a regenerative approach that aims to restore health and function to the penis helping men regain a spontaneous, active sex life. Most other therapies involve the continuing use of medication or injections, diminished effectiveness over time, pre-planning when a man wants to have sex, or surgical treatments such as implants.

ED Acoustic Wave therapy is a simple, drug free, painless, non-invasive procedure that cures or reduces vascular ED difficulties instead of just treating the symptoms. Our treatment uses intensity-extracorporeal Acoustic Wave therapy (LI-SWT) to enable natural or spontaneous erections. This restores both the anatomical and physiological erectile function. The treatment was developed in Europe and has been successfully used over the past decade in many areas of medicine in the U.S.

What are Acoustic Wave?

Acoustic Wave are acoustic waves (vibrations) that carry energy. These vibrations can travel through skin to an anatomical region to target a specific area. When the low intensity Acoustic Wave are applied to an organ, they cause mechanical stress or micro trauma, which in turn, induces a healing response and improvement of blood supply.

How does ED Acoustic Wave Therapy work?

The treatment involves low-intensity Acoustic Wave (similar to ultrasound waves) being transmitted onto the treatment area. The Acoustic Wave create micro trauma to the tissue, stimulating the body’s natural healing response. These Acoustic Wave accelerate the body’s healing response, stimulating the treated tissues to grow new blood vessels, resulting in improved erection performance. For even more erectile rejuvenation, Acoustic Wave therapy may be combined with the P-Shot (platelet rich plasma), which adds a high concentration of growth factors to strategic areas according to a patented protocol.

What are the results?

Treatment leads to improved blood flow to the penis. The desired result is that men are able to obtain erections more normally. Some men are able to get better erections without medications, other men are able to get better erections with the same or lower dose of medications.

When will I see results?

Patients have reported noticeable improvements within three weeks of beginning the course.

How long do the results last?

The results are long lasting and may be more permanent. Effects have been scientifically proven to last 2-3 years, but this varies with individual health and lifestyle factors.

How to Get Started

The first step is to schedule a consultation with one of the practitioners at contemporary health center. You’ll meet with the practitioner to discuss your condition, medical history and other treatments you’ve tried. The practitioner will review treatment options and help you decide which is best.

What is the preparation for the treatment?

A patient does not need to make any changes to their daily routine prior to the session.

What is the Treatment Schedule for Acoustic Wave Therapy for Erectile Dysfunction?

Protocol for Acoustic Wave therapy typically involves six total short therapy sessions, or 12 for severe dysfunction, lasting approximately 30 minutes each. Usually, there are two treatments per week. For many men, there is an almost immediate improvement in the symptoms of erectile dysfunction. The results are very long lasting. Follow up appointments are made to monitor the man’s health and condition.

Do I Have to be Treated Continuously?

With Acoustic Wave therapy, there is no need for lifelong treatment. Often 1 course of treatment will lead to long- term improvement in erectile function without the need for continuous treatment. Periodic maintenance treatment as part of maintenance therapy may be beneficial.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment is pain-free and patients may feel a tingling sensation, not unlike pins and needles.

Is ED Acoustic Wave Therapy safe?

Yes! There are no reported side-effects during or after the therapy, and the treatment is proven to be safe. This is an FDA cleared technology, originally developed in Europe and used worldwide. The EPAT device we use is state- of-the-art and has extensive applications including orthopedic medicine, urology, anti-aging treatments and wound healing. When performed by a qualified practitioner, EPAT has virtually no risks or side effects.

What are the possible side effects/ complications?

There are virtually no risks or side effects. In some cases, patients have reported minor discomfort which may continue for a few days. Tylenol is sufficient for this discomfort. While extremely rare, it has been reported that veno-occlusive vascular insufficiency may have been induced by Acoustic Wave therapy.

Is there any downtime?

No. Patients can carry on with their normal activities immediately following each treatment session, including sexual activity.

Who will benefit from ED Acoustic Wave Therapy?

Men with high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol and heart disease with vascular erectile difficulties can benefit. The treatment can be used for almost all patients, of any age, even those on anticoagulants. The sooner a patient seeks treatment for ED from us, the better the outcome will be. Acoustic Wave therapy works best for men who have mild to moderate ED, which usually means that oral medications such as Viagra work well or at least help somewhat. For these men, as many as 70% can stop taking oral medications. Please note that assessment by our trained practitioner is necessary. We know there are certain treatments, conditions and individual histories that are likely respond better or worse to Acoustic Wave therapy. For men who are not candidates for Acoustic Wave treatment or if Acoustic Wave therapy does not provide satisfactory improvement, other treatments for ED are available.

Acoustic Wave Therapy for Peyronie’s Disease

Peyronie’s disease is caused by fibrous scar tissue, which impacts the curvature of the penis and can lead to erectile dysfunction. Acoustic Wave therapy has proven effective in the treatment of Peyronie’s disease. Using low intensity Acoustic Wave and the P-Shot, we have been able to straighten the erection and improve elasticity of connective tissue.

ED Acoustic Wave Therapy and ED medications

For many men, Acoustic Wave treatment is as effective as treatment with medications such as Viagra. Many men treated with Acoustic Wave therapy for erectile dysfunction find that they no longer need medications to obtain and maintain a quality erection. Other men find that they get a better erection with medications after treatment than they got with medications alone.

Is the treatment effective?

Studies show that the Acoustic Wave Therapy improves the quality of erections in over 70% of patients with vasculogenic erectile decline or dysfunction. It is important to understand that not every man will benefit from it. As many as 30% of men may not achieve the desired result. Still, the potential benefits of this treatment – spontaneous and sustainable erections – make it worth a try!

Is ED Acoustic Wave treatment covered by insurance?

This varies greatly and can be determined at consultation. Please bring your insurance information to your appointment. Even without insurance coverage, many men find the out of pocket cost of prescriptions and other less effective methods make this treatment a greater value.

Cost of ED Acoustic Wave Therapy

Acoustic Wave Therapy for ED Research & Clinical Studies

There is an increasing body of clinical research supporting the effectiveness of Acoustic Wave therapy for the treatment of vascular related ED.

Shockwave treatment of erectile dysfunction

LI-ESWT is a revolutionary treatment of ED, and probably possesses unprecedented qualities that can rehabilitate erectile tissue. The clinical improvement in subjective erectile function together with the significant improvement in penile hemodynamics following LI-ESWT confirm that LI-ESWT has unique properties that may create a new standard of care for men with ED.

Can low intesity extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy improve erectile function?

Scandinavian Journal of Urology- This placebo-controlled study over 5 weeks shows that 57% of the men who suffered from erectile dysfunction had an effect from LI-ESWT. After 24 weeks, seven (19%, active group) and nine (23%, active placebo group) men were still able to have intercourse without medication. This study shows a possible cure in some patients, but more research, longer follow-up in the placebo group and an international multicentre randomized study are needed.

Low intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy for erectile dysfunction: a study in an Indian population.

Significant increases in the duration of erection and penile rigidity, and significant improvement in penile endothelial function were demonstrated. Ten men did not require any PDE5-I therapy after 6-mo follow-up. No pain was reported from the treatment and no adverse events were noted during follow-up.

Low-intensity Extracorporeal Shock Wave Treatment Improves Erectile Function: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

In a review 14 studies of men who received low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave treatment (LI-ESWT) for erectile dysfunction (ED), there was evidence that these men experienced improvements in their ED following LI- ESWT.

Low intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy for erectile dysfunction

LI-ESWT demonstrated a positive long term clinical effect with improvement in erectile function of Indian men with vasculogenic ED who were prior responders to PDE5i therapy. The efficacy and tolerability of this treatment, coupled with its long term benefits and rehabilitative characteristics, make it an attractive new therapeutic option for men with vasculogenic erectile dysfunction.

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy for the Treatment of Peyronie’s Disease

After 12 wk, mean VAS score, mean IIEF-5 score, and mean Quality of Life score ameliorated significantly in patients receiving ESWT. In patients with Peyronie’s Disease, ESWT leads to pain resolution and ameliorates both Erection Function and Quality of Life.

Penile Shock Wave Therapy Helps Men With Severe Erectile dysfunction

Low-intensity shock wave therapy to the penis can help men with severe erectile dysfunction (ED) that is unresponsive to conventional phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitor treatment, according to data released here at the European Association of Urology 26th Annual Congress. The new findings confirm that the treatment exerts a genuine physiological effect on the erectile mechanism when applied directly to the cavernosal tissue, he added.
